Delhi sultan:Iltutmish

Introduction

Iltutmish was third ruler of the slave dynasty or the mamluk dynasty mamluk term is used for slaves in quran slave dynasty ruled from 1206AD to1290. His religion was islam
Three dynasties were formed during this period
1. Qutubi dynasty
2.first ilbari dynasty
3.second ilbari dynasty

He belonged from ilbari dynasty his ruling period was from 1211AD to 1236. Iltutmish was died in April 29,1236 he expanded Muslim empire in northern India. 
He was sold by his brothers to Aibak as a slave. 

How he became sultan? 

Qutbuddin Aibak made him his son in law and Aibak appointed him as the iqtadar of gwalior. Aibak died in 1210AD after his death his aram baksh become emperor iltutmish defeated him after 8 months and become sultan. He saved India from the earth of chengiz khan. 

His work 

He marched against bengal and bihar  and resserted control over them. He introduced Arabic coinage in India and silver tanka become standard coin in medieval India it's weight was 175 gram
He completed the construction of qutub minar which was started by qutb din aibak . He made the magnificent mosque at Ajmer.

Iltutmish was a statesman he nominated his daughter raziya as his successor and she ruled from 1236AD to 1240. Iltutmish patronized many scholars to come to India. He was died on 31 April 1236. And he was buried in the qutb complex in mehrauli.
